We are so proud of all our Haitian children. They are “following their dreams.” Dumolia is one of our children who had a rough life and whom God has blessed. As you may know, she was badly burned when she was small. When she was brought to us by her father, she had fallen into a pot of boiling water, which had melted her from her neck down to her waist.
For many years, she was in the States, going back and forth from Haiti to the Shriners in Boston. She had to leave after the 11th grade because her Visa was up. When she came to Haiti, she could speak English but not French. So, we enrolled her in an English-speaking, American high school which was recognized here in Haiti. When she finished her 12th year (with high honors), we decided to send her to Italy, to a college especially for “English-speaking international students.” But she had a problem getting all her information to the college in Italy.
We found out she had been sending her college information to the “Italian Embassy” here in Haiti just about a month ago. But all the while, she should have been sending everything to the “Italian Embassy” in the U.S. because she graduated from a U.S. high school, which was in Haiti. So it became “very complicated!”
We found a wonderful college in Kingston, Jamaica called the “University of West Indies.” This college is located right near a great Jamaican church with a wonderful pastor! It is a well-known medical university. We hope and pray that everything works out for Dumolia. She is so sweet, kind, intelligent, and loves the Lord! We are doing the paperwork now.
Thank you for your prayers regarding this.
