Jackson is doing well with his physical problem. Even though he has kidney disease, he still tries to function and have a normal life. We found Jackson in the mountains of Savann Pite, Haiti, with a huge bloated stomach. Trying to pick him up was very difficult. We knew he was in serious health condition but never knew how bad he was until we brought him back home to our orphanage. His kidneys were failing. We sent him to several doctors here in Haiti but all they did was take money and offer no help.
Jesse Ostrander, who works with us here in Haiti part-time, searched out a kidney specialist in the Dominican Republic. The doctor told us Jackson would need a pediatric dialysis machine. One of our partners sponsored this machine for Jackson. He has to be on dialysis each night from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am. He has to have two nurses that take turns staying up all night with him, monitoring the kidney machine. When he travels to the DR for a checkup, we have to take a nurse, his dialysis machine, his special dialysis medicine, and his special diet needs.
Jackson will return to the Dominican Republic Wednesday for a checkup and return to Haiti Thursday. When he is home, he has chores like all the other boys. Jackson is a sweet, kind, young boy. Our dream for Jackson would be for God to heal him, or if we could get him on a Humanitarian Transplant list. We know God has a plan for Jackson’s life, Sherry
