Update on Jackson: 3-21-19 6:00 PM

Seeing these pictures, I get so emotional!

Before I had even moved to Haiti, I had gotten to know Jasson (Jackson). The Mobile Medical Clinic, where Jackson was found, was one of the trips I was on! I will never forget the look of misery in Jackson’s eyes as he stood before us hopeless. I will never forget his uncle who brought him to us with such great concern. He had no hope to pay hospital bills, much less be able to get down from the high mountain top we were on. Jackson, as young as he was, knew that we were his only saving grace at the time. Bobby and Sherry made the decision to bring him down from the mountain to care for him while undergoing treatment. Jackson was so scared that we were going to “forget” him or “leave him behind” that he insisted on staying with us at our campsite. I remember how sad he looked and how uncomfortable he was. For me, I never understood how someone who was so badly sick could recover. The treatment that Jackson had to go through for his malnutrition was severe! The draining of the fluid, strict diet, and all of the adjusting to a new life down from the mountain. What struck me was his faith that everything was going to be alright. As sick as he was, he still sat in the church service praising the Lord. With time, Jackson started getting better and better! Today, although he has bad kidney problems, for the most part, he is in good health and plays just like all of the other children here at our Love A Child Children’s Home! He has become family! Jackson loves playing soccer, and he loves helping everyone around the house! What really amazes me is how intelligent he is. He did not get to attend school much in the mountains, because he was so sick. Now, he is here and is number one in his class! It is truly a testimony of how God works! Jackson gives all his glory to God! We are so proud of his “never give up attitude” and we love him so much!

Love, Kaeli
