Update on Jackson

Poor little Jackson (Jasson, in Creole). He was found when we conducted a Mobile Medical Clinic in Savaan Pit, in the mountains. He was suffering from kwashiorkor malnutrition, which is the most severe and life-threatening of the two kinds. His body held so much water that it was like “picking up cement blocks when we picked him up!” We brought him back to Love A Child and began the long process of getting him back to health.

Current Health Problems: Jackson is in serious condition now due to his kidneys. He is in a hospital in Croix des Bouquet. His face, stomach and feet are retaining water (edema). The doctors have to insert a catheter to remove this liquid before they can create the “fistula” needed for his dialysis at “L’opital Espoir” this week.

Blood Donations: Sunday night, I received a call from Nixon, our Administrator, saying that he needed four of our older teens to go and give blood for Jasson. (This was before they decided to put in the catheter!) So we sent four older teens with a driver Monday at 6:00 am. They went to the blood bank, gave blood, and waited “all day” for the blood to be taken to the hospital for Jasson! Finally, late that day, I got a call saying, “We have the container but no blood yet!!” So our truck full of kids came home late after finally getting the blood and taking it to the hospital!

I will keep you informed about Jackson. The doctor told us that we would need $20,000 U.S.D or more for his dialysis. So we are asking the Lord to move on his behalf. We have been waiting for the actual price, but our doctor says it will be at least $20,000.

If you would like to help Jackson, please call our office at 239-210-6107 and ask to speak to Rad. But we really need “prayer!!”

God bless you,

Sherry
