Update on Jasson (Jackson)

Our sweet little Jasson (Jackson) is doing well. He has his up and downs. Jasson, as you may recall, was one of the children whom we found during a Mobile Clinic. This particular Mobile Clinic was in Savaan Pite, far in the mountains, where we had built a church and school.

Jasson was brought to our Mobile Clinic by his uncle. We immediately knew Jasson was in trouble… in fact, he was near death. The Kwashiorkor Malnutrition had already begun to affect his kidneys. His belly was extremely bloated, and his face had that “moon shape.”

When we brought him home, we did the best we could and sent him to our doctor. He immediately found a kidney specialist, in Port-au-Prince. It was tough getting Jasson back and forth to the kidney specialist, who had to put a port into his shoulder/neck area. The specialist was right in the middle of a lot of gangs in Haiti. It was really stressful for the driver, going back and forth.

We decided to take him to the Dominican Republic. We found a specialist, a pediatric specialist, for him. He was put on a special diet and many medications. They will keep Jasson on this until his next appointment in the Dominican Republic, this month.

We are buying a “pediatric dialysis machine,” so that we can have our people trained with this machine. The dialysis will be done at night while he is sleeping so that Jasson will have a relatively normal day. He really needs a miracle in his life. We are doing everything we can for Jasson. He is now 15, even though he looks younger. The doctor says that “he will never grow.” He will always be the same height, all his life, but, we know “the great Physician.” We love Jasson. He is quiet, sweet, and kind.
