This is (Jean) Richard from our Love A Child Children’s Home!

Richard has such a gentle spirit and is so caring! He came to us after the earthquake from another orphanage. When he came we did not have much information on him. Come to find out, when he was little he got polio, which has caused him to be disabled. There have been many times I have caught Richard in the yard just “trying” to walk with no walker and no cane. He would sit down beside me and cry, telling me he “just wanted to walk.” After that, he got into intense therapy. It has helped him a lot but he still cannot walk by himself. He has come so far!

Richard can play the keyboard better than anyone I have ever known! He can pick up notes in a matter of seconds! He also is the “referee” for the kid’s soccer games here at the children’s home! Richard has his own tricycle that he can ride to school and to church so he doesn’t have to push his walker so far! Since he has gotten a bike he has become very good at fixing tires!!! Haiti is hard on all tires, especially bicycle tires!

Every morning he cleans all the windows on all the vehicles! We are so proud of Richard and how he strives to be better! He has never given up even when he feels so discouraged! He is a good boy and NEVER misses a church service! We love him so much!
