This young man is Mikael Antoine, though sometimes we call him Ti Mikael (Little Mikael), but he’s not so little anymore. He has been at our Love A Child Children’s Home since he was a toddler. His mother, Marie Pheta Julien, died shortly after his birth. His father, Jean Marcel Antoine, was so poor he couldn’t take care of Ti Mikael and his older brother Ti Tai (Jonathan). When Mikael first came to our children’s home, he was in very poor health and suffered from malnutrition. We all opened our arms and welcomed him with lots of love and hugs. He was given three hot and nourishing meals each day, and it didn’t take long for Mikael’s health to improve and with the love of his brothers and sisters, he became a new member of our family. Today, he is strong and healthy, and he now has a “summer job” working with Wilner, our Director of the Agricultural Training Center, along with some of his brothers who are working in the gardens.
