Many of you know Widlene’s story, but if not, it is a miracle. Years ago, when we lived in Mt. Noire, Haiti, Widlene’s mother came to our front gate one day. We did not know her… she was just “another knock on our gate.” She had a baby girl in her arms, Esther, and her little girl, Widlene (about age 5). She told me she was sick and was going to die and needed someone to take care of her children when she died. I asked her what her name was, and she replied, “Jesula.” I said, “Well, if Jesus is here, then you won’t die.” We sent her mother to a hospital only to find out that she was anemic and malnourished. We brought her home from the hospital, gave her a job, and took her two children in.

Widlene is now 19 and has just finished her last year of school here in Haiti… Philo. It is very difficult to pass, but she and three other children in that same grade, passed! Widlene loves “psychology.” She wanted to find a college or university here that she could get her degree in psychology. I told her that “even if she took this college course,” she would never be able to get a job because there are not that many people who could afford to see a psychologist! She is praying and giving her life some thought.

Widlene is a very intelligent young lady. She is a great leader and very responsible. I know that she will find the “right path” in her life!!! I depend on Widlene a lot here at the Love A Child Children’s Home!!! I just pray that the Lord will lead her on the right path!!! She is such a sweetheart, very kind to everyone, and never criticizes anyone!!! We will keep you posted!!!! We love her so much, and we know God already has a plan for her!!!
