Today, Pastor Mark was supposed to fly into Haiti. He and Bryon, from The Mission Church, are “mission critical” to our projects and they take turns coming to Haiti. But, this morning we had Pastor Mark cancel his flight to Haiti.
We were supposed to have 103 organizations come out and receive food from us tomorrow, but today we canceled them and told them the roads are too dangerous, and we are having to cancel this Food Distribution.
We have a Food Distribution each month for 103 organizations. It takes “three 40-foot containers of food” for this number of missionaries and workers. We give each a pallet of “Feed My Starving Children” food. So, the Food Distribution that we planned for tomorrow is canceled.
But, many of them need food for their children, and over half have orphan homes. So, we told them that “any day” they hear that the roads are clear they can come, but they would be coming at their own risk. It is heart-breaking when we know these missionaries have orphanages and feeding programs and yet, they have to take their lives in danger to get food. No one knows or understands the pressure we missionaries here in Haiti are under. We need the U.S. Military to come in! This is the only thing the gangs are afraid of!
We are writing letters to our Congressmen now… If they don’t act and send us help, there will be more kidnappings and lives lost. Prayer is the only hope. Bobby and Sherry
