First of all, today, we want to wish all mothers a “Happy Mother’s Day!!”
This is a story about a young lady named Jordan DiFranco. She is a friend of our grandson, Aidan. We were so impressed the first time we met her. She is an amazing young lady who has a heart for the poor.
When Jordan heard about our work in Haiti, she wanted to do “something” to help. She started putting a plan together to raise money via “Walk-a-Thon!” Jordan is a member of the Interact Club in the area of Crestline, California. There are 64 members. A young lady named Evelyn, the President of the Club, got together with Jordan and other members and wanted to “do something” to help the poor Haitian people and children. Jordan and Evelyn started planning in November.
They decided to do a “Walk-a-Thon for Haiti!” Their club did their own planning, made posters, got the word out, and told their family and friends, and the “Walk-a-Thon” got off! There were twenty-nine in the walk, but about 50 people participated.
So far, they have raised $1650! We will keep you posted if more than this amount comes in. We also want to thank the Rotary Club for their support. Thank you, Jordan, Evelyn, and everyone who worked so hard, on behalf of the poor here in Haiti.
