Ti Mika…

I can remember the day we first saw her, as if it were yesterday. We were “filming for our television program,” and we were in a very remote village. As Bobby was busy, I just found “something to sit on,” so I could see all the village people. I saw an elderly grandma holding a baby in her arms. Then, the grandma put the baby on the ground and walked away, as if she were looking for something.

There was “this baby,” sitting on the ground, maybe ten months old, and she reached down and put a handful of dirt in her mouth! I ran over to pick her up, to see if I could make her spit “the dirt out,” but she had already swallowed dirt and was choking. I saw her grandma slowly walking toward the baby, but she was in no hurry. I picked the baby up and tried to get her to spit the dirt out… finally, the grandma showed up! She let me know that she did not want to care for this baby… she was old and had no money. I asked, “Do you want me to take her to our orphanage?” “Yes, take her,” she replied! We did!!

Today. “Ti Mika” is a young teen who makes good grades and loves Jesus and church! She is a hard worker and full of life!! She is still thinking about a career, but she has plenty of time! We all love her.
