TOUCHING STORY BY BOBBY BELOW:
In the Civil Prison of Petit-Goâve, Haiti, a facility never designed to house children, there are currently 613 inmates, including 19 vulnerable children and 22 women. Tragically, many of these prisoners—often impoverished individuals jailed for minor offenses or caught in personal disputes—have been forgotten by the state, left to languish without trials for months or even years. Some have endured 67 or 72 months without ever seeing a judge, their lives hanging in the balance.
Before Love A Child intervened, the situation was dire: hunger was a relentless killer, claiming lives in droves and reducing survivors to mere skin and bones. Without adequate food, survival was impossible—starvation not only weakened bodies but systematically destroyed them, turning the prison into a graveyard of neglect. Feeding these prisoners isn’t just an act of charity; it’s the absolute lifeline that prevents mass death, sustains basic human dignity, and offers a chance at endurance amid injustice.
Thanks to the compassionate efforts of all of us working together, this deadly cycle has been broken. Hearing the cries of those suffering from acute hunger, the organization stepped in decisively, hiring nine skilled and qualified cooks to prepare nourishing, substantial meals daily. This vital feeding program has transformed despair into hope: prisoners no longer perish from starvation, their bodies are rebuilding strength, and their spirits are uplifted knowing someone cares.
The inmates express profound gratitude to the entire Love A Child team, who tirelessly watch over them, listen to their suffering, and extend a helping hand. In a system that abandons the forgotten, providing consistent food is the cornerstone of survival—without it, these lives would be lost to preventable famine. Haiti must recognize that feeding prisoners isn’t optional; it’s essential to preserving humanity in the face of systemic failure. Love is something you do! Matt 25:35 through 40… We are doing this unto Jesus Himself.
