We Love Our Haitian Children!

We love working in Haiti, living with our children at our Love A Child Children’s Home, feeding the poor, and providing excellent care for the sick. I know that some people may criticize us because we built a beautiful home for the children at our orphanage, but the Lord led us to do this! When we had our old orphanage, we were poor, but we did our best. But when God gave us this big piece of land in Fond Parisien, we determined to raise up a generation of “Haitian children” with a mind to serve the Lord, children with a college education. Many people in Haiti (especially teenage boys) look down on girls who come from an orphanage. Many guys consider orphanage girls “trash,” and “you can do what you want with them,” but not as long as we’re alive! We make sure our children are dressed nicely, have school uniforms, books, and education! We want them to know that “the Lord has chosen them” for something special in their lives, and that they can be anything in life they want to be as long as they work hard, put Jesus first, and get a college education. It sickens and saddens Bobby and me to hear that a few days ago a large orphanage in Haiti, run by Americans, burned down, killing 15 little children who could not escape the flames. This organization, whom I will not name, did not get their generator fixed for this large orphanage, although they could well have afforded a new one! As a result, they used candles which caught the orphanage on fire. The children were not kept clean because it was easier to “raise money” for a dirty looking orphanage than a clean one! Today, Bobby and I are “sick to our stomachs” about the deaths of these children. So, if people want to criticize us for building a beautiful orphanage, it’s fine with us! We love our Haitian children and want each one to “make Haiti a better place!” Thank you, friends and partners. We are all part of this together. “Love is something you do!” Bobby and Sherry
