Jackson just returned from the hospital yesterday. He really needs dialysis for his kidneys, but he is not able to have this done yet. He has had the fistula implanted and is waiting for it to be able to handle the dialysis.
Little Kenzy has “sickle cell anemia.” So he is “sickly” all the time. We have to take him to the doctor time after time. This morning, he started bleeding from his mouth. He was rushed to the hospital at Petit Fre ak Se (the hospital for children), but there was no room for him. So we have to send him to Bernard Mevs, another hospital. We don’t know how long he will be there or what they will do for him.
We are trying to get a visa for Miliana to send her to a special skin specialist in the States. Since we first found her, she has had an immune disorder – she has growths covering her hands, legs, especially her feet and arms. The disease is called epidermodysplasia verruciformis. It causes growths that look like “tree trunks” growing out of her feet, hands, arms, and legs. We must first send her to a doctor that the US Embassy verifies to see if they can give her a letter to interview at the Embassy. That will determine if she can go to the US for help with this disease.
Djonsly is not our child, but we have been caring for him for several years now. His mother brought him to us with “one eye” hanging out of its socket!!! A large tumor had begun to push this eye out of its socket two years ago. We found a doctor and hospital willing to care for him and perform surgeries, but then, his visa ran out, and COVID-19 set in. We are now trying to get him a visa to return for treatment.
In the meantime, we have been working with a surgeon in the Dominican Republic concerning Dieuferly’s feet. Dieuferly was born with clubfeet. Unfortunately, professionals did not do all of the surgeries he had in Haiti. As a result, he suffered each day with excruciating pain. We finally found a surgeon in the Dominican Republic who will operate on both of his feet this week. We do not know how much the surgery will cost.
It is “very stressful” running a large orphanage in Haiti, especially when some of the children require a lot of medical care. But, the thing that lifts our burden is that we know “we are not alone.” And, God has sent us the best partners in the world!
We just received word that one of our partners donated the money ($4,000) to cover Jackson’s surgery and medical cost thus far. If you are reading this, and the Lord is speaking to your heart, we can only say we would be extremely thankful and grateful for any help you would give for any of these children. God bless you, and we are so so thankful for the partners who just sent in the $4,000!!!
We know God is with us!!!
Thank you, partners!!!
