Here is Rodna, holding a baby in her arms at our “Malnutrition Clinic.” She is always “volunteering” to help! We just love her so much!!

Rodna’s parents were poor. When her mother died, her father had to “borrow money” for her funeral. (Even if you are poor in Haiti, you cannot afford “not” to have a good funeral for a family member. It brings great shame on the family if you do not have a good, expensive funeral for your loved one.) So, her father borrowed the money for the funeral, but he could not pay it back! The man he borrowed money from took all the siblings as hostage, including little Rodna, until he could get his money back!

Nelio Barthelemy is the head of all our activities in Haiti. He has been our “right hand” since moving to Haiti! Nelio helped us to “work out a plan” to pay the money back, and to get Rodna and her brothers and sisters released!

Raising a lot of children in an orphanage here in Haiti is a BIG JOB! We could not do it without the help of God, and our main man in charge, Nelio Barthelemy! Who do you think taught me how to speak Haitian Creole? I taught Nelio how to speak English and he taught me, as best he could, how to speak Haitian Creole! PTL!

Today, Rodna is “growing up” and will probably go to nursing college, we hope! Please remember us in your prayers. College here in Haiti is “very expensive,” but we know that “everything is in the hands of our Lord, Jesus!” “Tout bagay va vini tre byen…” it means, “Everything will come out very well!” God bless you.
