Many years ago, when we first moved to Haiti, we knew that God had sent us here… but at first, we did not know what we would be doing. If anyone had told us, “You will be traveling over dangerous mountain roads, feeding the hungry, and letting them know that God loves them,” we would have shook our heads. We thought we were only called to “preach the Gospel,” especially in mass crusades. We had never understood the real “meaning of hunger,” and never knew that “feeding the poor,” would be our greatest way to win them to Jesus.
We were in a large mass “open-air crusade,” with thousands in attendance. We were telling people “how good God was,” when a poor lady in the back, held her baby up above her head and shouted, “If God is so good, why is my baby so hungry?” It was as if someone stuck a knife in our heart because we could not think of an answer to give her… but, from that day on, we knew that “hungry people,” had to be fed first, then, we could give them Bibles and minister to them. Jesus’ words still ring in our ears, “For I was hungry, and ye fed me.” Matthew 25:35
This is Sunday… let the Lord use your life today.
