What They Need Most is Food…

The children of Haiti are innocent victims of hunger and disease. Many of Haiti’s children do not get “one full meal a day.” Parents who live in the mountains do not have a steady job, and crops are scarce. They cannot “move” to another place unless they own land there, and they have no money.

With the gangs taking over Haiti in many areas, the poor cannot go to the market to sell, which 90% of the poor do. They cannot afford medical care because the food comes first. Many children have malnutrition.

There are many Haitian Creole proverbs about hunger. One of them is: “An empty sack cannot stand.” It means, when you are hungry, you cannot work or do anything.

Imagine your child waking up each day and facing another day of hunger. In many areas, their hunger is so bad that they say, “I would rather drink Clorox than die of hunger.” They call this “grangou Clorox,” or “Clorox hunger.”

When we feed them, they have hope. Hope that you have not forgotten them and hope that “God” has not forgotten them. Remember today that “you” are the hands and feet of the Lord. He does not use angels to do our work. He uses “you and me.”

Thank you, and God bless you,
