This simple picture brings tears to our eyes. The man you see in the red shirt is Pastor Brunel. He believes God has called him to help the people and the children of Old Letant.

This is a poor, mud hut village on the edge of the lake. We have a church here and a Christian school. We provide the blackboards, etc., and pay the teachers, but the parents have to provide school uniforms, shoes, backpacks, and books.

The government of Haiti does not provide books, which are very expensive.

So, these teens will grow up to seek a way to survive without an education. Most likely, they will end up on the street, joining a gang.

Pastor Brunel has great compassion for the youth, especially the young men, because, without an education, they will end up on the street and, most likely, with a gang.

Having Jesus and an education is their only way to make it through this tough life in Haiti. The government here should put emphasis on the youth and education…. but they don’t care. Poor Haiti. It is heartbreaking.
