This is Widlene. She is sitting on the steps of her college apartment. This morning, she was waiting for her sisters to walk to Church with her. (You can see her Haitian Bible in her arms.) Her dream is to be a “professional cook!” Widlene and her sister, Esther, came to our gate years ago when we lived “up in the mountains of Haiti.” They had been brought to our gate by their mother, “Madamn Jesula.” Madamn Jesula was thin, weak, and thought she was going to die. She wanted to leave her children with someone who would take care of them when she died.

We sent her mother to a hospital and found out that she was anemic and hungry! We took her and her two children into our orphanage and gave her mother a job! Now, Widlene is in college, and her sister, Esther, will soon be in college. Widlene will soon graduate from college as a “professional cook!” A job will be waiting for her at our “Fresh Foods” Restaurant, operated by her brothers, who grew up in our orphanage with her.

We always pray that each child will grow up to follow Jesus, care for the poor, and marry the right person! We don’t see any problem with Widlene. She is sweet, loves the Lord, and helps the poor… now, we pray that the Lord will give her the right husband! Thank you, partners, for your prayers!
