Widlene’s Letter

Dear Friends and Partners, thank you for your love and devotion to our work here in Haiti. The greatest sacrifice we have made has been “being away from our two children and grandchildren” on Holidays, Birthdays, etc. This sweet letter is from Widlene, one of our older girls at our Love A Child Orphanage, to our two children in the States. They are the ones who have made the biggest sacrifice.

Dear Julie and Jonathan,
How are you both doing? I hope this message finds you and your family in great spirits. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for everything you have done for us throughout the years. Your selflessness and sacrifices have not gone unnoticed.

I am truly grateful for the times when you allowed us to borrow your mom and dad. Their presence and love have made a significant impact on our lives here in Haiti. I am aware that they missed important moments in your lives, such as birthdays, Christmas, Easter, and the first days of school… It’s because of their dedication to helping others that they were unable to be there for those occasions. I want you to know that their absence was not in vain. Their love and support have touched the lives of so many in Haiti, including mine.

I also want to express my appreciation to you, Julie and Jonathan, for your understanding and love. I know it must have been challenging for you to share your parents with us, especially during your younger years. Your acceptance and kindness towards us mean more than words can express. Your smiles and warmth every time we see each other bring comfort and reassurance, even though I understand the sadness that may exist for all those missed moments.

Please know that I am forever grateful for the love, guidance, and support your family has provided. I promise you that one day, I will make all of this worth it. I will strive to create a better future, not only for myself but also to honor the sacrifices your family has made.

With heartfelt appreciation, love, and recognition,
Widlene
