Jesus said, “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid…” Matthew 14:27
I have been in a small Haitian boat in Haiti in a storm, so I understand “fear” very well. Here, we see the disciples of Jesus on a boat in the midst of the storm, but when Jesus came walking on the water to them, He calms their fears saying, “It is I. Be not afraid.” Peter says, “Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.” Matthew 14:28 – And Jesus said, “Come!” This is the same Peter, who had been so afraid that he had denied the Lord three times, now he jumps out of the boat and walks to Jesus on the water! Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The wise man in the storm prays to God, not for safety from danger, but for deliverance from fear.” Keep your eyes on Jesus, not on your storm! Sherry
