If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered. (Proverbs 21:13) When I was two weeks old, I went to live with the woman who raised me. (She will always be my mother.) We lived in a small shack like house, yet she had so much money that she had put $100,000 amounts of money in many banks. One time, I asked her for $10 to help a very poor family. She refused and said, “The poor is nothing, don’t give them your time of day.” When she grew sick and cried out to God, she was not heard, but died. I look back now, and I understand.
