“And he knew not that the Spirit of the Lord had departed from him.” (Judges 16:20) (Part One)
I think if someone were to ask me, “What is one of the saddest verses in the Bible?” I would have to say “this one.” Samson had been dedicated to the Lord from his mother’s womb and God was using him to conquer the Philistines. But Samson disobeyed the Lord when he married Delilah, who was sent from the devil to trap him. He told his secret to her, and she called the Philistines in to cut his hair.
I can see him now, when Delilah yelled the third time, “The Philistines be upon thee.” He thought, “No problem, I’ve got this.” But, the Bible says, “He knew not that the Spirit of the Lord had departed from him.” King David said, “Take not thy Holy Spirit from me.” Psalm 51:11 – Today, if you sense the Spirit of God in your life, and you know He is there, begin to praise Him. If you ever lose the Spirit of God, you’ve lost everything. Sherry
