“An Ounce of Favor…” (Part Two)
Ruth, a young, beautiful and poor widow woman, goes back to Bethlehem with her mother-in-law. She has no male child, so there is no heir to carry on the name. She and Naomi, beloved mother-in-law, arrive in Bethlehem with no money, no food, nothing. Ruth goes to “glean” in the fields. (In Bible days, landowners allowed the poor to come and glean the leftovers.) Ruth ends up in the field of the wealthy landowner named Boaz, just “in time for barley season!” She discovers that Boaz is her near kin. On the advice of her mother-in-law, she wins the favor of this much older man – Boaz… and marries him! And, she has a child called Obed with him. Obed becomes the grandfather of David, and through the lineage of David, Jesus Christ our Savior is created! Someone once said, “An ounce of favor is worth a lifetime of labor.” Joseph had “divine favor” when he was captured and sent to Egypt, he received a position of power from the Pharaoh. All through the Bible, “God’s divine favor” brought blessings and prosperity. It’s really not what you know, but “who you know…” And His name is Jesus! Ask Him daily for divine favor for you, your children, and your grandchildren! God bless you, and may “divine favor” cover you today! Sherry
