Word from the Mission Field – 07-12-18

“Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes. For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left…” Isaiah 54:2-3 – Sometimes, we are afraid to “step out on the water,” and do something we’ve never done before. In 2 Kings 7:3, we read about a horrible story of four lepers outside the gate of Samaria. There was a famine in the land. It was so bad that the people had turned to cannibalism. These four frightened, hungry, scared and despised lepers were outside the gate. They had two choices: 1. Go in and meet the Syrians and “if they try to kill us, we may die.” Or 2. Stay outside and starve to death. They made a choice. They “stretched out their stakes,” and did something they had never done before…by faith. And, when they went inside, they discovered that the Lord had frightened the Syrians so badly that they had left food, animals, clothing, silver and everything! After the lepers had eaten and gleaned what they wanted, they carried off the silver and gold. Then they told the starving Israelites, who went in and gathered the food, animals, gold, and everything else! Today, if you are facing a decision, don’t be afraid to “step out, lengthen your cords and do something you’ve never done!” God is on your side! Sherry
