“The Battle is the Lord’s…” 1 Samuel 17:15-48
This is probably one of the most famous of all stories in the Bible… David and Goliath. The Israelites were on one side and the Philistines on the other, with a valley between them. Each day, the nine-foot-tall giant came out with full battle armor, a heavy brass coat and all the other gear. He was dressed like an armored tank! He was unstoppable. He steps out and boasts his threats to his adversary.
“I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air.” Out comes a teenager with a sling and a stone running at full speed to meet this giant, and saying, “Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts!” Then, David tells the giant what’s about to happen to him and the enemy. He says, “This day, I will smite thee, and take thine head! For the battle is the Lord’s!”
Maybe you are facing a battle today. You’ve already faced off the lion and the bear! You know God can do it! Now, the giant you are facing is “nothing!” The battle is the Lord’s! Use your sling and that one stone, God’s Word! You will win this battle! Sherry
