“A Ram in the Bush…”
In Genesis 22:2, God speaks to his faithful servant, Abraham, and tells him to go to Mount Moriah and make an offering. “Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”
Abraham never questioned God; he never asked God to “make a deal,” or “change his mind.” He never whined or begged. He simply “obeyed.” And the Bible said, “He rose up early in the morning…” This is divine trust, divine love for his God who had never failed him, even though this was his son that God had promised him, that would become his heir. The son that was born when Abraham was about 100!
But when they got to the place and Abraham was ready to sacrifice his son, an Angel stopped him, and there was “a ram in the bush!” When we obey the Lord, and do what He asks of us, even though it is a sacrifice, God will always provide a way out.
