Word from the Mission Field – 08-03-18

“A Servant’s Heart…”
Not many people, Christians, want to be “servants” nowadays. Everyone wants to sit in the best seats, or be first in line. We have seen many people come to Haiti who said that they wanted to be missionaries, but in the end, they did not want to “serve.”
Jesus said, “And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant…”  Matthew 20:27 – Or you could say, “Whosoever will be chief among you, let him learn to serve.”
Someone once said, “Greatness is not determined by how high you go, but how low you can go…” We all know the story in Luke 7:38… The sinner lady with the alabaster of precious, expensive ointment came to where Jesus was eating with the Pharisees. She does not stand and offer the ointment to Jesus, but she “stoops so low she is at his feet,” and then she is moved with such compassion and brokenness that she cries so much that she washes the feet of Jesus with her tears. (She had to be crying a lot to do this.)  And then, having nothing in her hand, she dries His feet with her hair and pours the ointment on him. She became a “great woman” that day, because she stooped as low as she could to serve. Today, wherever you go, or whatever you do, take the low end of “serving” and the Lord will bring you up high! Have a great day! Sherry
