Out from Lo-debar, Part Two
We find Mephibosheth, the grandson of King Saul, crippled, poor, and hiding from Saul’s enemy, King David. In Bible days, the new King always killed the family of the “previous King,” or their enemies. David calls for his army to find Mephibosheth in Lo-debar, a desert place where nothing grows, and everyone is poor. They drag Mephibosheth in and throw the dirty beggar with matted hair at the feet of King David, Saul’s enemy. David says, “Fear not,” and restores all the land of Saul to Mephibosheth, and gives him people to work for him, and he tells Mephibosheth, “You shall eat bread continually at my palace.” Today, your Lo-debar may be that man that you cannot detach yourself from, or it may be some friends who are not really friends. It may be a job where you are not happy or something else in your life. But, God wants to bring you “out of Lo-debar” to a place of blessing. He is saying, “Fear not!” I have something better for you. Don’t let anything become your Lo-debar. Always pray for God’s guidance in your life! He has the “best” in mind for you! Sherry
