Jesus said: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19

The Lord wants us to be soul winners! The Bible says, “he that winneth souls is wise.” (Proverbs 11:30)

Do you know how to fish? When I was a little boy growing up, my neighbor, Mr. Bloodsworth, and I would walk through the woods with our cane poles to a secluded sinkhole lake to catch bass, bream, and speckle perch, after school every day. We would catch fish every day! We did this for about five years until Mr. Bloodsworth’s mule kicked him in the stomach and killed him.

When I was in high school, my English teacher, who I had for two years, would pick me up for school each morning. Whenever Mr. Brandon could get away with it, we would skip school and go fishing all day!! We went all over Florida, fishing from the east coast to the west coast! He always gave me straight A’s in English. I never studied; he always gave me an A on all of my tests! Today, my grammar and spelling are not the greatest… but we caught the fish!!

When I came to the Lord, Jesus said, “Now I want you to become fishers of men!” I’ve done very little fishing for fish; we are fishing for souls.
