“Ye Shall Henceforth Return No More That Way.” Deuteronomy 17:16
Are you looking for a “Word from the Lord,” today? Perhaps you are wondering “which way to go?” Maybe it is something you have been thinking about…
This is a very unusual scripture and it is dealing with the bondage of the Israelites in Egypt… for 400 years they had been slaves. We can only imagine their treatment and persecution. God had spoken to Abram (Abraham), in Genesis 15:13 saying that “his seed would be in bondage to Egypt for 400 years and that the Egyptians would afflict them.”
Now, they left Egypt and are reaching the “promised land!” Moses is warning the people before he gets ready to die. He is telling them how to keep God’s law, to obey His Word, etc. Then he says, “Ye shall henceforth return no more that way” (Egypt). It is amazing to see that once God brought His people “out of Egypt,” how many times they murmured and complained and “wanted to return to Egyptian bondage!”
It is the same way today… Someone prays for God to deliver them from their job, from an abusive marriage, from a situation, from a place that they have lived, etc. Then, like “Lot’s wife,” when things don’t go “exactly as planned,” they want to turn around and get one more last “look.” They are saying, “I want to return to Egypt.” But God is saying, “Ye Shall Henceforth Return No More That Way!”
God doesn’t want you to “look back,” or “think back,” or “go back!” Apostle Paul said, “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press towards the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13
Bobby always says, “Stop looking back in your rearview mirror. Keep your eyes on the road ahead!” Today, this scripture is for “you!” Sherry
