Word From the Mission Field: 12-9-18 6:25 AM

What Do You Want to Hear?

I have always heard so many people say, “Well, if God wants me to do that, He’ll have to talk loud,” or “If God wants me to do that, He will have to give me a sign.” Sometimes, when we are praying and wanting an answer, we might miss God’s voice. 1 Kings 19, Jezebel, the evil wife of King Ahab, is threatening the life of the prophet Elijah and Elijah is running for his life, and the Lord sends him to Mount Horeb, the Mount of God. The Lord speaks to him and says, “Go stand upon the mount,” and Elijah goes because he needs a “word” from the Lord about what to do. As he stands there, a great wind passes by and tears the mountains, but “the Lord wasn’t in the wind.” Then, an earthquake happened… but the Lord wasn’t in the earthquake. “And after the earthquake, a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” 1 Kings 19:12 — After God had gotten Elijah’s attention, He spoke “in a still small voice.” Be careful when you pray. You want to hear the voice of God, but it will be “in a still small voice.” Have a blessed day, and “learn to be still and listen.” Sherry
