“Hurry Up, God!”
Never have we lived in a society of “move faster and hurry up!” This is why people make the wrong decision… they feel they are forced into a “quick decision,” which may harm them physically and spiritually.
The children of Israel had almost “crossed the line” with God. Once Moses was dead, they kept on sinning… again and again and again. They demanded that God “give them a king,” like all the other nations, and God did. He gave them Saul, a good-looking young man of the tribe of Benjamin, who was “head and shoulders” above all the people. The Lord spoke to the Prophet Samuel to anoint Saul as king, and everyone was happy, until the wars began with the Philistines! The Prophet Samuel had told Saul to “obey all of God’s Word” and he would bless him. But one day, when the Philistines were getting ready to attack, Saul was in Gilgal waiting for the Prophet Samuel to come and make a sacrifice to win the war. But, instead of waiting on Samuel to come and make the sacrifice, Saul took it on himself to make the sacrifice. He was telling God, “I can’t wait on you any longer!” As soon as he disobeyed and made the sacrifice, the Prophet Samuel came unto him, angrily and with a “Word from the Lord!” The kingdom would be rent from the hands of Saul and given to another.
When we pray, we expect God to “hurry up!” But God’s time is not our time. The answer will come in God’s time! Hang in there!!
