Word from the Mission Field

“Just fill in the cracks!”

Have you ever noticed how some people don’t want to do the “little things?” They want to be on the platform, or on the radio, or where people can see them, but they don’t want to do the small things. Here in Haiti, many poor people live in mud huts called “kay pays.” These are often made with skinny sticks woven together for the frame, but then there are big gaps. Air, wind, rain, bugs, and rats can come through. So, they have to find a certain kind of mud that’s very deep in the earth and mix that mud “just right” to “fill in the cracks.” Bobby and I have slept in these mud huts before, and if it wasn’t for the “mud filling in the cracks,” we would have been a lot worse off!

The Lord said, “And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” (Ezekiel 22:30)

Should the Lord speak to your heart to be “that man” who would stand in the gap, would you do it? Would you be willing to “fill in the cracks,” or do you just want to do the big things? We should all say, “Lord, anything you need, I am here. I am willing to stand in the gap. I am willing to ‘fill in the cracks!’ Here am I!” When we do this, great blessings will follow us simply because of obedience. Have a great day!
