Word from the Mission Field

“The Spirit of Fear.”

We all know that God allowed Satan to send a very harsh trial into the life of Job… This great, and humble man, “had no Bible.” He had no church and actually he had nothing but a belief in the God he served and loved. But, a great trial came along, and in one day he lost his cattle, his sheep, his camels, all his livestock, his children, and all his wealth, all in one day; and not long after, his health, for he was struck with boils from his head to his feet. What a great trial for Job.

But, as reading again the life of Job we can see one more thing… Job 3:25, “for the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of, is come unto me.” We all know that fear is a spirit, and perhaps, even though Job was a man after God’s heart, and did nothing wrong, perhaps, while in his blessed state (houses, lands, flocks, children, etc.), perhaps he had “feared” that one day he would lose it all.

The “spirit of fear,” is very real. We have all felt that “spirit of fear” try to come upon us all at one time or another. But in Job’s days, he had no Bible to read. Otherwise, he could have seen these words, in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind.” Let us all be careful because “fear” is a spirit. It can even cause sickness to come upon our bodies. We are so glad that the Bible says, “perfect love casteth out fear.” 1 John 4:18.

Have a great day! Sherry
