Word from the Mission Field

“For God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.” I Peter 5:5

A powerful story is told in Luke chapter 15 of a man who had two sons. Both worked for their father, a wealthy man. Both would have received an inheritance… but the younger son could not “wait” until his inheritance came. He wanted it all “now!” So, his father gave him his share (a large amount) and he went out and spent it on “riotous living.” Soon a famine came, and he found himself “in the hog pen” feeding the hogs. He thought, “my father has hired servants that eat better than this, so I will go to my father and tell him I have sinned and ask for forgiveness and “I will ask him to let me be his servant.”

What a powerful story of forgiveness by his father… but, because the son asked for forgiveness and “humbled himself,” his father “brought out the fatted calf, and threw a party and took off his ring, and gave it to him, his best robe, and best shoes!” The act of “restoration” was made because the “son humbled himself.” God hates pride. He despises pride, especially in those who minister the word of God!!! God gives “grace to the humble,” but He resists the proud!

There were two thieves crucified beside Jesus. One yelled, “If He is Christ, let him take himself down from the cross and save us.” But the other said, “Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

Never, never, let “pride” enter your heart. It is an “unseen cancer” and it will destroy any person! He is “everything,” and we are “nothing.” We owe it all to Jesus! Have a wonderful, blessed day!!
