The struggles of this world can sometimes be overwhelming, but the Lord has made great promises to us. We must always remember that “this is not our home.” This place is only “temporary” until the Lord calls us “home.”
A touching story is told of an old missionary who had given his life to the mission field. He had spent years overseas on foreign soil, and now he was departing to go home. Finally, after many hours, the plane began to land. He looked out the window of the airplane and saw a crowd of people waving, cheering, and holding up signs that he could not read. He saw a band playing. He saw someone playing the trumpet. He was overwhelmed at the goodness of the people that came to welcome him home. With a smile on his face, he grabbed his bag and went down the steps of the airplane but was in shock! The welcome party was not for him. He blinked back tears as he thought about all of the years that he had sacrificed…
He thought, “Lord, I have given many years of my life on the mission field, and there is no one here to greet me as I arrive home.” The Lord spoke to him and said, “You’re not home yet!”
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
Always remember, “YOU’RE NOT HOME YET!” This place is just temporary… Sherry
