Word from the Mission Field

“Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” Isaiah 59:1

Don’t be discouraged praying for that loved one when “he or she” is not saved yet. God’s timing is not our timing…

Years ago, while we were working in the village of “Old Letant,” there was a powerful witch doctor by the name of Joel. I never knew he was a witch doctor, but I needed a small place to have a Mobile Medical Clinic and he offered me his “tonnel.” (Little did I know that this was where he did all the “witch doctoring!”) Since he was the leader of the village, we would send clothing for the people, and he would steal the clothes. We would send food, and he would steal everything! But I continued to do our Mobile Medical Clinics inside his “tonnel,” where we prayed and magnified the Lord.

When he left the village one day, to do some more of his “witch doctor” stuff, someone burned down the entire mud hut village! We went and took money to each family so they could buy things they needed to make their home, and get clothing, food, and a Bible for each home. We went to a meeting that day inside of a small block building, and when we left, Joel followed me outside. He said, “Madamn Sherry, I want to be a citizen of the country you belong to!” He meant, “I want to be a Christian!” That day, he fell on his knees in the mud, and as we prayed, he shook like a baby and cried! He said, “You will never see that ‘other Joel’ again! I’m the new Joel!”

Later, I asked him what had caused him to become a Christian. He said, “I’ve been watching you for a long time. You always keep your word…” Today, someone you love is “watching you.” Keep on praying and believing. “The Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save.” Just let them live the life in front of them!

Blessings,
Sherry
