Word from the Mission Field

“I will not be afraid of an evil report…”

Sometime in our life, we will receive an “evil report.” Life will not always be “sunny,” even if you are a Christian and serving the Lord. And the “fear of the evil report” is sometimes worse than the report itself. It is Satan’s job to bring fear upon you first… The evil report comes next. I love what David said in Psalm 112:7-9, “He (talking about the good man who shows favor and gives to the poor) shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. His heart is established, he shall NOT be afraid, until he see his desire upon his enemies. He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor…” No one in the world has had more “bad news” than Job in the Bible… It’s how we deal with the bad news that determines the outcome.

In Numbers 13:32, we see that the spies brought back an “evil report” about the wonderful land the Lord was going to give His people. “And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night.” (Numbers 14:1) Crybabies! I guess they forgot about all the miracles the Lord had done to get them out of 400 years of Egyptian bondage, and how He led with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night, and how He had fed them and gave them water in the wilderness, and many more miracles… But when “bad news came,” they turned into “crybabies.” Shame on them! Moses had to intervene, or God would have killed them!

Always be prepared that you may receive a bad report; an evil report. Guard yourself against fear. Stand strong on what the Lord has already done for you, all the miracles He has given you, all the times He has watched over you, never sleeping, and don’t let that “evil report” bring fear upon you, because “[your] heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord. [Your] heart is established. [You] shall NOT be afraid.” Stand strong! Sherry
