“Someone is Always Watching You”

Yesterday, after doing a Food Distribution in the mountains, I went to visit a poor lady. When I left her hut, I had to go by a “witch doctor’s house.” He had all kinds of magic and Voodoo in his yard. I was compelled to talk to him about Jesus. He stopped and told me his story. He was going to a church in Haiti and loved his pastor. He was very poor, so his pastor agreed to marry him for 1,000 Gourdes, less than $10 USD back then. But his pastor was an evil man, a liar, and made the price higher and higher. He treated this young Christian as if he were “dirt!” This angered and hurt the young man so much that he became a witch doctor because he could no longer trust Christians, especially pastors.

The Bible says, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” (Hebrews 12:1)
