Word from the Mission Field

“A Hook in Their Nose”

So, you think you have an enemy? No one could have possibly had a worse enemy than Bobby and me! Even worse, he called himself a Christian!

When we first inherited this land in Haiti, it was nothing but dry ugly thorn bushes and trees! You could not even put your foot on the land! The land had been barren and forsaken by the Haitian owner for over forty years! The old well had dried up, and now it was a thick forest of long, sharp thorn trees, and wild-growing thorns called “Flying Satan!” (They were mean little devils that shot thorns at you from a distance!) The old well had dried up and I thought it was the ugliest piece of land that I had ever seen!

On top of this, there were Voodoo people on the land who hated us! But we began to work hard, clearing the land, putting in a well, and making the property beautiful! But, as soon as we began to build our beautiful orphanage and school, the previous owner who donated the land became extremely jealous. The more we worked, the more jealous he became! He wrote lies about us in the Haitian newspaper and tried his best to take back the land! He hated us! But we prayed and prayed! And the Lord said, “I will put my hook in (his) nose, and my bridle in (his) lips, and I will turn him back by the way which he came.” (2 Kings 19:28) And God did!

So, in your prayers, tell your enemy what God just said! He’s going to put a “hook in his nose” and turn him back the way he came! God is our defense!!
