Word from the Mission Field

“God is Always There.”

Years ago, we had brought a team in from the States to do a Mobile Clinic. We had gone to Savann Pit, to the mountains. When we were packing up and getting ready to go, the old man (who was like the papa of the area), Mr. Occius, called out to us and said, “Please hurry. A storm is coming! You will not be safe crossing the river.”

Well, by the time we got ready to go, it was getting late in the afternoon and Mr. Occius was watching us with fear in his eyes. We went down the mountain, but we had to cross the river. By this time, the waters that were coming from “way up yonder,” were pouring down between the mountains on the left and the mountains on the right… this made the waters that were coming down, become fast, furious, and dangerous! We were all afraid. We actually had to throw a rope across the water and tie it to a tree, so that we could hold on to the rope as we crossed, and not be “swept away” by the fast-moving current. I was afraid, but I was reminded, “When thou passest through the waters, I WILL be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee.” Isaiah 43:2

We made it across, holding on to the single rope that was tied to the tree on the other side! We cannot count the number of times that the Lord sent angels to look after us, but, He is the same God that is “looking after you,” and “guarding you, too!” We shall not fear!! Have a blessed day!
