Word from the Mission Field

“A Far Country.”

“And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.” Luke 15:13

The story is told in Luke 15 of a rich nobleman with two sons. The younger son wanted to get his half of the inheritance and go “far away” from his father and his responsibilities and “party!” He wanted to get away from all the things he had been blessed with and go “into a far country.” But, sometimes, when we think we know it all, we know nothing! How could Jonah have thought he could run from God?

How “far” do you go? That quick decision we make without praying, without reading God’s Word, can become disastrous! Think and pray about your decision. Will it take you in an opposite direction from God? Maybe the devil paints a picture that “seems right” but it isn’t.

The good thing is that, even if you end up in a “far country,” God is always waiting with His arms wide open when you find your way back! Have a great day.
