Word from the Mission Field

“Give Your Way Out”

If anyone can say “they were poor and went through hard times,” Bobby and I can. We only had $40 saved up to get married, and my older brother, Bob, gave us $100 at our wedding. That was not much to start a married life, rent a place, etc. It seemed that as the years went by that we could not dig our way out. We bought a nice new truck on credit, but soon we were four months behind, and “GMAC” was always trying to take our truck! We made “just enough to get by on,” and we wanted to be on the “giving end,” but we were poor ourselves.

Then, when we began to give, something changed in our lives. It was not much to start out with, but when we gave even a little, we found such joy! One day, we heard a small voice saying, “Give your way out!” We learned that “we can’t beat God giving,” no matter how we try! (That’s a song we sang in African American churches!) “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.” (Luke 6:38) So, if you are having financial troubles, learn to “give your way out!” Have a great day! You can’t beat God giving!
