I wanted to share a remarkable story about “faith versus fear!” We’ve heard this story before, told to us by Johnsy, our I.T. guy, who keeps our internet going. As you may know, gangs have taken over Haiti. Johnsy had to travel through a bad area by “tap-tap” (Haitian truck) with his little son. His child is adorable with “huge eyes,” a cute smile, and a very inquisitive spirit. As they were traveling, fear gripped Johnsy’s whole being as he saw the gangs stopping the tap-tap. (This is where they rob you and then shoot you!) They all had “the big guns!”
They made Johnsy and his little boy get out of the truck. Johnsy immediately gave his phone and what little money he had, and he just knew they were going to kill or kidnap him and his son! But his little boy walked right over to the gang leader, who had the “AK-47” and other guns, “smiled at the notorious demon-possessed killer” and began a conversation with him, smiling, “reaching up and grabbing his beard,” laughing! It was as if “time stood still,” as his father froze with fear! This guy had killed many children, pregnant women, and men! All of a sudden, the gang leader said, “I’m not going to kill you, and I’m not going to kidnap you and your son. I like your son! Your son saved your life! You may go!”
Joshua 10:25 says, “…Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage…” This child did not fear, and even the “demon-possessed gang leader” could do nothing in the presence of faith! Have a wonderful day, and do not fear!
