This was one of my mother’s favorite scriptures that I would hear her talking about on the phone. She always had a scripture ready for anything and everything. This one is saying that “if you cannot stand when things are not too bad, then you won’t be able to stand when the big trouble comes!!”
“If You Can’t Run with the Footmen…”
The scripture is found in Jeremiah 12:5… “If thou hast run with the footmen (those without horses), and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?”
If you cannot overcome and trust God with the small problems, then what will you do when the “big” tests come? God gives us a lion and then a bear, because the “giant is on the way!” He is teaching us to “stand up and fight!” So, that trial you are in… thank God for it. Give Him the praise in advance because you will overcome it. However, don’t get too sure of yourself, as the “big one will be coming your way after that!” The good news is that God is on your side, and no matter what happens, you will be on the winning side!
Blessings,
