In Mark 10:17, we see the story of the rich young ruler who came to Jesus asking, “Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” The Bible said, “Then Jesus beholding him loved him.” There was something about him that “Jesus loved.”
And when the rich young ruler finished spouting off everything he had done, according to the law, Jesus said, “One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” Mark 10:21
And the rich young ruler went away “sad.” His possessions had “possessed him.” It’s not a sin to be rich, but God wants us to bless the poor with “our blessings.”
