Word from the Mission Field

“In Burlap Bags.”

A great man of God once said something like this, “God often wraps His gold in burlap bags.”

We are so used to looking on the outside, but if that was what God wanted, David would have never been anointed “King!”

Jesus was born in a “barn” and laid in the manger… though He was “King of Kings!” And if we were living in the days of “Elijah or Elisha,” we would have been shocked to see how they dressed…

John the Baptist had only a “piece of camel’s hair” for his “suit and tie,” and he had “locusts and wild honey” on his dinner menu.

On my first date with Bobby, he picked me up in his “black and white,” “always breaking down,” Metropolitan! We really had no money to go on a date, so Bobby took me with him when he went to preach. My second date was at an African American Church, which was having a “foot washing” that night! We never had the money to go “out to eat” or anything, but what I got was “gold wrapped in a burlap bag!” That was many years ago, and now, we are truly blessed, indeed!

Let us always be “listening to the Holy Spirit” and His “still, small voice” because that’s where the miracles and blessings come from…

Don’t look for the gift that’s “wrapped in splendor”… But look for the one that’s wrapped in “burlap bags!”
