Word from the Mission Field

I remember many years ago being on a desolate road in a barren, desert-like area of eastern Haiti. No one was out there. Who would want to be? There was no water. The area seemed to be uninhabitable. And it was hot, very hot.

I was riding in a car with my father and Bobby Burnette. We were driving to the place where Bobby said the future Love A Child main compound would be built. We were on our way to meet a man who was going to construct a little bridge off the main road down into the terrible landscape below. It was not a pleasant place.

But Bobby and Sherry had faith, big faith. They saw what I did not. And they acted upon their faith. Bobby signed a contract with the man to build the bridge. The bridge would connect us to a rocky piece of land filled with cactus and thorn bushes. But faith saw something else. Faith saw a beautiful orphanage, church, school, clinic, food distribution center, malnutrition center, birthing center, marketplace, and so much more!

The Bible says, in James 2, that “faith without works is dead.” You must attach your faith to actions. “Faith is something you do.”

I thank God for the little bridge that was built to connect this property to the main road. Hundreds of people cross it every day. Look at this aerial view of the compound now, faith has works. Thank you, Partners, for stepping out in faith with us. Thank you for your continued support.
