FASTING, PRAYING, AND FRIED CHICKEN! 

I remember at the very beginning of our ministry, the Lord spoke to me to fast and pray for 21 days and nights, just on water. I told Sherry I had to go and do this by myself alone with God. I found a book that encouraged my “atomic power with God.” The book said after three days you would start feeling stronger, in about seven days much stronger, and in about 13 or 14 days I may have visions from God. I left Sherry and went to a run-down shack, the windows were busted out and the cold air would come through in the middle of the night. The rats would come and try to crawl in bed with me! They were cold too! I would get up with a broom handle and try to kill the rats.

Sherry would come and visit me for about 10 minutes a day. On the third day, she asked me how I was feeling. The book said I would feel stronger, but I told her, “I’m weak and starving to death!” On the 7th day, she asked me again, and I told her, “I’m so weak I can hardly get out of bed… I’m so hungry!” I told Sherry to “take the book home and throw it in the trash… this guy just wrote this book to make some money!!”

On the 13th or 14th day the book said, “I may start seeing visions.” On the night of the 14th day of fasting, I looked up at 1 a.m. I saw a vision. The vision was even in color, like looking at a TV. I saw “chicken frying in a pan!” I saw cornbread and beans! I could even smell the vision! I had “smell-a-vision!”

I thought I would have seen an angel, or Jesus or something. I saw fried chicken! I went the entire 21 days fasting and praying just on water… walking the floor day and night praying to God.

God’s presence left me during my fast. I felt like I was praying against a brick wall. The Lord felt so far away. Sherry came and picked me up and was “two hours late” because our car broke down. We were broke and had no money. Actually, I was a little discouraged. I told Sherry I wanted to be alone in our other bedroom for the night.

In the middle of the night as I was sitting in my chair, the Lord’s glory and presence filled my room!!! The Lord spoke to me out loud and said “Bobby you fasted, and prayed, and fasted for 21 days hoping to see a vision, or something supernatural. The Lord spoke to me and said, “for we walk by faith, not by sight.” 11 Corinthians 5:7- The Lord also told me some other things that night that I have not even told Sherry.

I want to encourage you to base your ministry or life on walking by faith, not by sight. No matter what I face each day, I’m not moved by my feelings, or by what I can see, or what’s going on around me… I walk by faith, not by sight! Let the Lord use you today! God has great things to come! The best is yet to come! Run devil run!
